On October 30, 2016, Gang Wang was announced winner of the IDS2016 Competition on Image Denoising at the Second International Conference on Intelligent Decision Science, held in Dubai, United Arabic Emirates. The work was a cooperation between the research unit KERMIT and the research unit GIARA of the University of Pamplona. Their entry to the competition was based on the contribution "Blob noise reduction using unilateral second order Gaussian kernels and the non-local means algorithm" (G. Wang, C. Lopez-Molina and B. De Baets).
