EUSFLAT, the European Society for Fuzzy Logic and Technology, has bestowed its 2019 Scientific Excellence Award upon Bernard De Baets “for his excellent contributions to the theory of fuzzy sets and preference modeling with applications in distinct fields including bioscience engineering”. The nomination committee consisted of all previous awardees and EUSFLAT presidents. Bernard is only the fifth researcher to receive this Lifetime Achievement Award. The award ceremony took place at the Martinic Palace in Prague on September 11, 2019.
