On October 29, 2018, the rector of the Czech University of Life Sciences (CULS) in Prague attributed the 2018 Rector's Prize of CULS to the paper "Dietary species richness as a measure of biodiversity and nutritional quality of diets" which appeared in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America in January 2018. The paper was co-authored by several colleagues at the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering at UGent, among whom Bernard De Baets.
