On September 26, 2019, Jasper Beernaerts successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis "The use of the Qualitative Trajectory Calculus in sports analytics" and was awarded the title of Doctor of Sciences: Geography. Jasper was supervised by Nico Van de Weghe (CARTOGIS), Bernard De Baets (KERMIT) and Matthieu Lenoir.
