On January 6, 2026, Nusret Ipek successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis "Understanding hierarchy formation in animal groups through probabilistic modelling and computer vision" and was awarded the title of Doctor of Bioscience Engineering: Mathematical Modelling. Nusret was supervised by Jan Verwaeren, Bernard De Baets and Frank Tuyttens.
